Book publishing is alive, well and growing! The consolidation and growth of global publishing conglomerates continues into the new millennium to the point that 26 multinational corporations are responsible for over 58 percent of American book publishing. Meanwhile, more new start-up book publishing companies are joining the nine thousand small and medium sized publishers to generate growth in sales and number of titles published each year.

The NYU Center for Publishing has established new courses to focus on the changes in the book industry including disk and online editing, international publishing, and bookselling. Furthermore, the curriculum and course content in both the Certificate in Book Publishing and Master of Science in Publishing degree programs are continuously revised and updated to respond to the needs of the industry.
