As roles shift and jobs are redefined in the ever-changing magazine industry, specialists traditionally outside of financial areas are increasingly called upon to understand and participate in the financial management process. This introductory course provides the basic tools needed to succeed in this changing environment. Students learn the principles of budget management, how to read a profit and loss statement in regard to operating expenses, advertising, and circulation revenue. Other topics include: sources and uses of cash, balance sheets, and the annual budgeting process. 1.5 CEU. Offered in fall only.
