Examines key financial and operational issues unique to magazine publishing and key operating statistics used to measure performance and prepare operating budgets, cash flow reports vs. accrual basis statements. Reviews significant accounting principles and concepts related to magazine operations, operational significance of a departmentalized chart of accounts and income statement, and major balance sheet accounts from an operations standpoint. The financial management process: strategic planning, budgets, projections, monthly financial statements, financial information, and the decision-making process. All of these areas are related to specific magazines. (Prerequisite: Financial Analysis, Controls, and Accounting in Publishing/Y59.1150)
