An overview to all aspects of book and magazine publishing. Places emphasis on the various branches of the industry, the wide variety of roles and tasks required to publish either books or periodicals, production processes, business and financial planning, marketing, advertising, and the range of responsibilities held by different managers. Business simulations are designed to integrate learning and focus on emerging new digital multimedia products and information services. Students who are able to begin the program with the intensive six-week Summer Publishing Institute are urged to do so. For other students, Books, Magazines, and Multimedia will be their first course.
