Prerequisite: Y59.1360/Principles and Applications of Publishing on the Internet

The Internet has grown into a pervasive, international communications network. Although the Internet is a tremendous strategic resource, it is rapidly becoming a business necessity. To best leverage the Internet in a business environment, you must understand its unique components, capabilities, and culture. This entry-level survey course introduces the fundamental protocols, technologies, applications, and services on the Internet. Instruction includes network architecture, business issues, security, and future developments. The World Wide Web, Mosaic, and Netscape are also discussed.
