Audio rights, the oft overlooked and under-appreciated subsidiary rights, now form the basis for the fastest-growing segment of publishing-the $3 billion audio publishing industry. This new course provides an overview of the various aspects of audiobook publishing, including pertinent industry statistics and demographics, rights and negotiations, production concerns, packaging, sales and marketing, and why audio is at the cutting edge of the Internet/MP3 download revolution. In addition, special attention is given to the most pressing issues that face the industry, as a whole, and publishers, in particular. Special guest lecturers and a visit to a Manhattan recording studio are scheduled. Offered in fall only. 2.0 CEU.
