In this practical, hands-on course, you develop proofreading skills for book publishing. Topics include: proofreading marks and basic editorial skills; the role of the proofreader in the editing and production process; working with copyediting and design; proofing against manuscript and working with a style sheet; cold proofing; proofreading responsibilities in the electronic environment; proofing on-screen vs. hard copy; proofing electronically generated and scanned material; and marketing your proofreading skills. 1.5 CEU.
