No extensive mastery of other editing skills is required. In this course, students learn how to recognize significant concepts in books; how to organize such information under headings and in cross-references; how to record, alphabetize, edit, type, or computer-produce an index, and prepare the typed copy for a printer; how to solicit work; how to maintain useful working relationships with editors and authors; and how to set rates and bill for work.
