A practical training course designed to help develop editing skills needed for book publishing. The different requirements for trade, reference, and other types of works are discussed, including online editing. Topics include: proofreader s and copyeditor s marks; the handling of manuscripts and all stages of proof; word usage; style sheets or house styles; use of reference works; and the relationship of copyeditor to editor and production editor. You must be proficient in English grammar and composition. Extensive assignments. Enrollment is limited. 2.5 CEU.
