Lars Kilander was born on August 11th 1965 in Sweden. From 1969 he has lived in Germany where he went to school and studied business administration in Cologne. At his first job at OTTO VERSAND (the world's largest mail order company based in Hamburg, Germany), he was in the international marketing department in charge of the coordination between the Japanese joint venture OTTO SUMISHO and the headquarters. In 1996, he moved into the new media department and was responsible for the publication of the OTTO catalogue on CD-ROM. In 1998, Lars Kilander started at LIBRI (GEORG LINGENBRINK GMBH & CO., Hamburg, Germany) where he was head of the internet services department. Libri, as a wholesaler of books, is providing a platform and services/logistics for bookstores to sell books via Internet. In October 1999, this department was turned into a separate company (LIBRI.DE GMBH) of which he is managing director.
